There will be a warning on the request information page when New York property is selected (According to the N.Y.S. Real Property Law, Section 227-F, no landlord of a residential premises shall refuse to rent or offer a lease to a potential tenant on the basis that the potential tenant was involved in a past or pending landlord-tenant action or summary proceeding under article seven of the real property actions and proceedings law.
To comply with the law, we will be omitting any prior eviction history in this report. Read more about the law here.
There will be a warning on the checkout page for New York Landlords on why landlord pay is the only option (On June 14, 2019, Governor Andrew Cuomo signed into law the Statewide Housing Security & Tenant Protection Act of 2019 and the Housing Stability & Tenant Protection Act of 2019. Also known as “the Acts.” Under the Acts, a “landlord, lessor, sub-lessor or grantor” is now prohibited from collecting an application fee greater than $20.00 unless otherwise provided for by law or regulation. To comply with the law, we cannot charge a tenant a rental application fee. Read more about the Acts here.
